Assalamualaikum my dear friends

Have you ever wondered how it'd be like when you have a secret and you don't want anyone to know about it?

Have you ever trusted someone so much that you would swear he/she would never reveal it to others?

Wouldn't it be nice if you were one of those people who others put their trust and believe in you.
This is exactly what one of the companions of the prophet peace upon him was honoured with. His name is Huzaifah Al-Yaman.
The prophet Muhammad peace be upon him gave Huzaifah Al-Yaman the title of 'Penyimpan Rahsia Rasulullah s.a.w' because of his trustworthiness. The prophet revealed to him, and only him alone, the names of the munafiquuns in Madinah. Knowing this, everytime a muslim villager died, the Caleeph Amirul Mukminin 'Umar ibn Khattab would always be watching whether Huzaifah would pray the jenazah or not. If he wouldn't then 'Umar wouldn't as well as he knew that that person must have been in the list of the munafiquuns mentioned by the prophet.

There was also this one time when 'Umar knew about a munafiq working under him. He tried to get some answers from Huzaifah but due to Huzaifah's loyalty in keeping what the prophet has amanahkan to him, so 'Umar didn't get the answer he wanted. But through Allah's hidayah which He can place upon in the mukmineen hearts, 'Umar knew who that person was and fired him. Subhanallah, this hidayah of Allah is sometimes through instinct.

I remembered one of my dearly teachers once said "trust your heart" or "listen to what you heart tells you". Even the prophet mentioned the same thing when Waabishah ibn Ma'bad came to him. The prophet asked "Did you come to ask me about righteousness?" Waabishah replied "Na'am (yes)". "Consult your heart! Righteousness is that about which the soul feels tranquil and the heart feels tranquil, and sin is what creates restlessness in the souls and moves to and fro in the breast, even though people give you their opinion (in your favour) and continue to do so", said the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

Looking back at this hadeeth, old memories flash as fast as I'm typing this. It's truly true isn't it? Sometimes we just have this gut feeling that this is right and that is not. It just depends on how strong our mujahadah is to follow the instinct speaking within us.

But, how about those who would have an instinct of that always tells him/her to do bad things? Such as wasting time with movies? or going out on a date? Isn't that also a gut feeling?

Well, having a pure heart lets the heart make the right judgement. Having an instinct that is truly reliable, one that is an 'ilham' from Allah, or that is truly guided by Allah, is the dream of the mukmineens. A good heart would control the whole body to righteousness while a corrupted one would lead you astray.

Abu 'Abdullah al-Nu'man bin Bashir r.a. said that he heard the Messenger of Allah s.a.w say ".....Beware, in the body there is a flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt, and behold, it is the heart."

So my dear friends, let's all make doa to Allah so that He purifies our heart and always ask forgiveness from Allah. Who knows maybe tomorrow or perhaps the next hour, we are no longer breathing...

I want to be like Huzaifah Al-Yaman. How about you?
