Allah Says So

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh

I came across a wonderful book "Discover Islam" by the well known USA's Al-Jumu'ah publication. Sometimes its good to read in the perspectives of those who would try to explain Islam to the non-muslims, especially when it comes to the challenging  and thrilling type of questions. And yes, it really does sound sensible. The reasonings, the logic behind Allah's deen. When you look at the hikmah, surely you would be more confident in the truth. I sure am, insyaAllah.

I've always heard from reverts' experiences when they explain about how they find the explanation to Islam really relevant. I know it is, it's just that when I read the articles in this book, alhamdulillah I am more convinced.

The way the authors deliver the message was indeed in a wise way, not trying to crack any jokes or anything (remember what the prophet said? about laughing would make the heart insensitive), serious in the matter, yet the construction of the language is simple.

Here's an example..If someone came up to you and asks "Why does Islam oppress, you women? Keep you in houses and just serve your husbands" I once talked to my German neighbour and he did express his thoughts of this. Its true that some Muslim cultures oppress women due to local customs, but this is contrary to the Islamic teachings. Islam elevated the status of women over 1400 years agon by declaring them the sisters of men, giving them the right of education to the highest level, the right to choose a husband, the right to end an unhappy marriage, the right to inheritance. Like what they say, don't look at the reckless driver driving the car, but at the quality of the car itself. Its not the fault of the car if the driver doesn't behave as he is suppose to.

Overall, I quote this from the article about "Why is alcohol prohibited in Islam?"
Allah, in His infinite wisdom, made injunctions aimed at preserving the individual and society. Hence the consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Islam. It is worth mentioning that when Muslims refrain from doing things that Allah has forbidden, they do not do so because of detrimental effects but because Allah has prohibited them. Their aim in this world is to obey Allah's commands, and by doing so they benefit themselves.

So, my brothers and sisters. Yes, it is proven that the commandments that Allah has sent in the Qur'an are proven today to be scientifically correct, for Allah is the Khaleeq. Most of the facts that have been discovered recently in this 21st century, was mentioned some 1400 years ago. Facts like mountains as pegs, or barriers that exist when two oceans meet. But how about those that do not have scientific evidences, yet? Would we still believe it?

The most important thing, is the aqeedah. If Allah says so, then we obey so.

I took a pic of the following during a seminar in Auckland last year. Just wanted to share it :) (click on it to read it clearer)

So let's reflect back on our iman, o Believers!

Islamic Eye

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh

I was thinking back on how I would apply the things that I learn here in uni to show that it's a part of Islam. Coz after all, Islam is every single aspect in our lives aiyh?

So let's see....Mathematics. numbers..equations..theorems..and back to numbers again..how does that relate to Islam? An Australian professor Trevor Bond who was my dad's friend told me that the beauty of maths is its perfection. No flaws. The right exact solution..hmmm..I'm still trying to look for answers for that, to be convinced that is..He did suggest a few books to read (duh! he's an academician)..anyway, back to our discussion. There was this one tv show on astro that showed how by maths, you could get miracles!

There was this one lady who worked in a hospital. Back home, his grandfather suddenly felt a rush of pain in his chest and went to get the phone. He dialled the number that he thought to be his daughter's number ( which was the mom to this lady..if you're following). But somehow that number turned out to ring a telephone at the hospital hallway where his granddaughter was exactly passing at that particular time. That lady was surprised to hear her grandfather's voice, calling her her mom and asking for help. SubhanaAllah isn't that too good to be considered as coincidence!

Mathematically, or should I say it - statistically, what was the probability for the grandpa to reach his granddaughter with a wrong number? (perhaps, just by one digit!) And from all the hospitals in town, he called the correct hospital where her granddaughter was working. And from the dozens of passageways in the hospital, he managed to call that one hallway which her granddaughter just happen to be at. A miracle?

Subhanallah. Nothing is coincidence. Everything has been planned by Allah. "The pen has been lifted and the ink has dried", remember?
Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle (Al-Lateef), the Acquainted (Al-Khabeer)?
                                                                                            [Al Mulk, 67:14]

So maths is a way to show the greatness of AlMighty Allah subhana wata'ala. That's just one. There's many to it if you just spend time and think :)

How about Physics? At first, I thought I loved Physics because..well..I dunno..probably just because I'm pretty good at it. But to learn it more in depth, and with the tarbiyyah in mind, Allahuakbar, I could see how Great Allah is. How truly He is the Supreme Architect of the worlds. MasyaAllah.

But its pity. Pity to see how those whom have no faith in Allah, see the world. They are so eager to dig up all the science there is, without even having the slightest clue on what these science are actually telling them.

Here's an analogy. A great scientist have been living overseas and is apart from his wife and other family members. After a long while, he receives a letter from his beloved wife. He was so obsessed with the science around him, he looked at the letter and tried to figure out what it was made of. Was the paper from this particular tree or that? Had his wife's handwriting change since the last letter? Was the paper a quality one? What was the ink his wife was writing with? So all day long he compared, and weighed, and made all sorts of experiment to the letter. When his colleagues asked him, how was his wife? He couldn't answer. Why? because he did not bother what the letter was all about, but was more into what made it that way.

Wake up people! All the things that are around us, are proves to the existence of the One God!

I pray that Allah would give me and you hidayah for seeing the world with an Islamic Eye, the way it should be.

Till then. Assalamualaikum~

Summer in Malaysia

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh

Just remembered the five weeks break I had back in Malaysia recently. Alhamdulillah I would say that I did manage to make 80% use of my time...Nah..that's too high. I'll make it 70%. Still, it's a great personal achievement for me! Remembering back the loads of wasted time after SPM (it was a good thing I spent 3 months at the National Service) and IB, I definitely deserve a round of applause :P

I had wonderful time with Ummi. Eventhough she'd kept on blabbing everyday about praying on time, I honestly learnt something. Before coming back I had this determination to force myself to follow Ummi's orders. I've always been pretty lazy to wake up early for Subuh especially when it comes to going to the mosque. She'd have to go through the same process every single day- wake us up 30 minutes before Subuh, then shouting telling its 5 minutes to subuh, then when its time, she'll even shout louder to get us to hurry up or else we'd be left behind.

Ummi loves to repeat this analogy - When you're on for a flight, you would plan your journey well. What time you'd be stepping out of your doorstep. How would you manage everything so that things would go smooth and be right on time for your flight. It goes the same with solat. It's amazing how those people get to pray on time, five times a day especially for subuh. SubhanAllah. Why aren't we like that? Just have to get ready before time.Yup yup yup. Before the solat time.

Other family members--> Alhamdulillah, I was happy with those excited faces when I said I brought something for them from New Zealand, the so called "Land of the Hobbitons". My aunties, uncles, cousins, and everyone else. I guess people do appreciate if we remember them. I was like "Bukannya pape pun. Beli sket2 je" and my brother was like "Its the thought that matters, bukannya harga barang yang beli tu". Alhamdulillah. Thanks to my friends for they were the ones that were all excited on buying stuff for their families, which dragged me into it. Anyway, I hope that so-not-much-of-a-souvenier made them happy :)

InsyaAllah, continuing the rest of summer here in Auckland, I do hope that I could be as consistent as I was back home. Just need someone to yell at me at times, or even bang me on head so that I don't get too carried away, especially now that I'm starting on my fifth Harry Potter book.

Okie dokie. See ya later, alligator.
Till next time, InsyaAllah

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

I see I admire

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh

I see. I admire.
People like my mom, my akak usrahs, my teachers, my friends, my juniors.

They are so strong. So inspired. Makes me wanna be like them.
How did they become like that?
I wonder.

At first, I thought
"Duh..see's a debater. She's got talent in public speaking. A total opposite from me..always going around the bushes, getting nervous and all"
or
"She has great personality. No wonder she could get people 's attention"

but then I realize.
Its the result of what's inside. The iman.

You don't see the seed inside the Earth, but you could admire the flower that blooms from it.

SubhanAllah.

I wanna be like them.

For that, it takes a process called tarbiyyah.

May Allah place me and you on this wonderful path till the end. Till we meet in paradise. InsyaAllah. Ameen.

That's Allah~

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakaatuh

Have you ever been down and out
and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to..
That's Allah..He wants you to talk to Him

Have you ever been just sitting there
and all of a sudden you feel like doing nice
for someone you care for..
That's Allah..He talks to you

Have you ever been thinking about somebody
that you haven't seen in a long time
and then the next thing you know
you see them or receive a phone call from them..
That's Allah..there is no such thing as "a coincidence"

Have you ever received something wonderful
that you didn't even ask for
That's Allah..He knows the desires of your heart

Have you ever been in a situation
and you had no clue how it is going to get better,
but now you look back on it
That's Allah...He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day

In all that we do, we should totally give Allah thanks and our prayers blessings will continue to multiply

Thank you Allah. All praise be to Allah. Alhamdulillah
