Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wa barakatuh....

Ramadhan is getting nearer and nearer. I never did notice that time would fly that fast. It felt like as if it was just yesterday the beginning of Rejab..then came Sha'aban..and now we're just less than two weeks before Ramadhan! MasyaAllah Iffah!! Have you not notice that the most rewarding month is coming??!! Wake up Iffah!!

This feeling of homesick is getting onto me...Oh how syok Ramadhan was in Malaysia...in KMS...in Bangi...the one thing that drives my emotion now is the feeling of being so close with our Creator..Remember the times when we would sleep in Allah's House? And everyone coming there only wants to fully i'tiqaf in the masjid...Nothing else in mind...Just HIM...

Well..anyway..I'm truly grateful the akak2 here planned for the 'Month of Good Doings'..yup yup yup...the programme is just as the name suggests..its basically for the whole August..I bet the objective of it was to give us some warm-ups before Ramadhan :)

Then the truth reveals itself...jeng jeng jeng..I've just recently started to take note of the list of things I should be doing daily..weekly..monthly...and..then I only realize that I really need self-improving!!

Well..for your information..I'm not that kind of organized person...i describe myself as flexible..having a flexible timetable..which could be good in some ways..but most of the time not so good...sob sob..

So we all had this cute little cards having boxes to tick...and every night before going to bed, I would spare some time doing some memory exercises to see what have I done today...like the song 'What Did I Do Today?' by Dawud Wharnsby Ali..

It turns out to be that it really is hard to maintain akhlaq mulia..not as easy as it seems...practically speaking that is..

Throughout the first 5 days, I've only managed to tick once the box of 'not saying impolite words' such as gile, dowh, poyo etc...Somehow gila seems to be the most exaggerating word one would use nowadays..especially muah...isy isy isy

Oh yeah..another one..mengumpat..how hard is it to abandon this mostly-girls-related act? There always will be times when we'll talk about lecturers..imitate the way they talk...complaining about people in our classes and etc..Sometimes even saying bad things in front of their faces..mentang2lah dorang tak paham..Astaghfirullah...To my surprise, I've met a lot of New Zealanders who could speak and UNDERSTAND Malay! If we were to know that these people could actually understand if we were talking about them, wouldnt we be ashamed of ourselves? What sort of manner is that as muslims? We should be more ashamed with ourselves for Allah knows bits and pieces of our hearts...

Here are some of the lists that we should check daily to make sure that our iman is strengthened:

  • Give salam to friends and muslim neighbours upon meeting (the neighbour part doesn't work for me as I have a Denmark n German neighbour..)
  • Smile with sincerity to pals n neighbours (now this..I can do!)
  • Ziarah to friends' room
  • Give useful piece of advice
  • No mengumpat
  • Not saying impolite words (as mentioned before)
  • Helping those in trouble
  • Treating visitors to your room nicely
  • Make doa for friends n family
  • Istighfar and forgive everyone before going to bed...

And the list continues....

You know how they that say that akhlaq mencerminkan peribadi ? true. true.

So the ayat for today :

"Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. O you who have believed! Why do you say what you do no do? Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do." (As-Saff 61:1-3)

InsyaAllah let's do our best to walk our talk..Ameen
